This is a tribute to Bobby Short who has passed away at the age of eighty. It by and large consists in an interview Rose did with Short and Peter Duchin a few years before. Short comes on as elegant and confident. He tells about how he first came to the Carlyle hotel where he would become a New York city fixture for thirty years. He speaks about the happiness of his life in doing what he really wants, and in giving pleasure to his audience.
The segment would have been more effective had it contained a reasonable sized excerpt of Short’s singing.
